Content-First Project

For this project, I was responsible for every step in the design process including ideation, research, competitor analysis, user-testing, and mock-up creation.

Sometimes we come across someone’s profile and can’t reach out at the moment. If we click away from their profile they might get lost in the LinkedIn abyss. So how can we avoid missing out on connecting?

With Network(In), an electronic list to help members keep a record of those they want to connect with. A user would come across a profile, use the save icon, and write the reason for saving so they could remember later. If I were a recruiter, I would save someone’s profile to keep them in mind for a role. As a job seeker, finding people at my “dream” company could be overwhelming so instead of following or sending a connection request, I could add them to my list. The best part? Receiving notification reminders to reach out as frequently as I choose.

The challenge was conducting research and competitor analysis on a product that did not exist. After some thinking, I framed the research to focus on LinkedIn habits when in hindsight, I should have worked backward by creating the copy first and then researching how to improve it. I would have better understood what copy worked and how it made the user feel. The project was not to use data to prove the feature was needed it was to help make informed copy decisions. The research I gathered about members’ habits was still useful because it helped me create the user journey. And, I gathered insight about the copy during the A/B user testing. Despite many hiccups and confusing moments, I carved out a path to deliver a product I was proud of and discovered new ways to think out of the box.
